About
What is Philosophy?
The term is derived from a combination of the Greek words philos meaning love and sophia meaning wisdom. The question itself is a philosophical dilemma that will likely be explored as the journal grows.
Are You a Philosopher?
I suppose that in the sense that I love wisdom, I am a devoted philosopher, but who isn’t? Searching for truth is a prominent aspect in everyone’s life, and it is also described as the ultimate task of a philosopher by prominent ancient thinkers such as Plato and Aristotle. Through our evolution and advancement, all humans accepted the title of philosophers by adopting the power of our minds over sheer force.
Therefore, I am a philosopher in the capacity that I think. I accept the designation because it recognizes my efforts to actively pursue my ideas beyond the easily visible first layer.
Who Are You?
I am a nineteen year old student living in New York, and am attending the University at Buffalo as a sophomore. I will be majoring in Biomedical Sciences as I hope to become a doctor, but I have recently been exploring the possibility of a minor in philosophy.
Why Use a Website?
The ubiquity of the Internet makes an online journal the perfect publishing platform. Also, inclusion within powerful publishing networks such as 9rules has greatly boosted my readership.
