Redesign: Color Revolution

I’ve been meaning to redesign this website for a while now and my first order of business was to add some color. Structurally, however, not much has changed, so regular users won’t face any new issues.

Some of the things used in this design are Lightbox 2 for some of the portfolio screeshots, and the great patterns on the middle section backgrounds are from Jason Gaylor’s Worn Photoshop brushes.

The design is still open for changes, so I’m definitely still taking feedback for this facelift.

Also, I’m sorry for any hiccups that may have happened during the transition. Copying over the new page templates and forms took a few minutes in which I’m sure the site was a wreck. The old version (elegantly titled ‘9’) can be found here

Wow, the site looks great. Much nicer looking than the last version I recall (although that was a while ago).

    Nice job anyways.

The new theme looks great – much more professional than my recent attempt : /

Wow, nice job. Very elegant-looking – I like that. It’s beautiful. The only thing I have to suggest is more padding on the comment form, and a little better spacing on the sidebar. Other than that, it’s amazing. Great work.

    Thanks everybody!

I’m not sure what exactly you mean Steven, but I did increase the spacing between the sidebar element groups and also bumped up the padding between form labels and on the form itself. Let me know if that helps or if you had something else in mind.

    Looking good, though… :-D

I like the new site a lot. I think your title header and the nav bar/box are excellent.

    Andrew:
I know we talk about this over IM, but I’d like a chance to publicly humiliate you. Check the home page, the bathroom florals are still there :D

Thanks alot! I like the header part too.

This is much more elegant! One thing that I think you should add that I have been missing (still) is a link that directly goes to the forum. As it is now, I have to click one of the “recent posts” and navigate to the topmost level to see all the forum topics. It’s nothing big, but would be neat.

This has given me more inspiration for mine. Mine is still lacking quite a bit, and I am not sure if that is from the lack of understanding Textpattern (heh, should have learned something in the seven months I’ve been using it), or if it is just the fact that I struggle with figuring out something intuitive.

    Hi Tom,

I know you requested that link when it fell off in my last redesign and I somehow neglected to add it yet again.

I usually don’t like mixing headline levels with links, but it seemed like the cleanest way to do it was to attach a link at that top header.

    Hope it helps!

That is the very place I was looking at and forgot to mention. Thanks! I don’t know how many other people looked for that, but I’m sure I’m not the only one who is benefiting from this…
