When the future begins
At a certain point, following a series of important events, one starts to feel some big changes. My last few weeks have been busy to say the least, and have involved many such events not the least of which included a move to my new apartment.
The changes are terrifying. I have a constant uneasy fear of something I can only describe as life. It is the horrifying feeling that what I do now matters, or does it? I cycle between quivering and simply not caring as I consider the impact I have on my own life and future.
How much of our lives is us, and how much is beyond control?

I’ve always associated change as something uncontrollable and while that may be true with certain aspects in life, it doesn’t necessarily consititute something bad. Change, for the most part can be good and it provides us with a better spin in life.

Jorgeq: Great perspective. Change and trial are very important parts of any life. I only wish I could face them with your optimism :)

One way to handle it is to decide little things and understand that they will have a small impact on your life and let circumstances drive big changes that you have control over. Using a mix of logix and emotion, let the favorability of one choice over another determine which major choices you make and you will have few regrets. Then you know the choice you made led you to the path of the way things should be.

I’m not an atheist or an agnostic, but I frequent a great blog by an atheist…

I find that often your actions come back to you in the future. Anything you do does not necisarrily affect yourself directly, but rather affects those around you. This sets off a chain reaction of actions affecting everyone except for the person commiting the act. Eventually this chain reaches you, by this point augmented beyond possible prediction. Thus, every small thing that may seem insignificate in your life affects you in enormous ways. If you can make sense of this, and other philosophies I post, then you too can add sage to your title if you so wish. However, this too can have enormous effect on you. Be careful always.

Sage:
I am far from attaining that kind of title, but I definitely like your points. If we consider the number of people or things we interact with each day (however minute they may seem), it is easy to see that we have a huge impact on our world.
Maybe this post was sparked by watching “Troy” the other day. Heroic thoughts of immortality can really screw a guy up :)

It would seem to me that the big things are well expected by society. Compared to the thresshold for irritation for a human, it would appear to me as though it is the little things that truely do the job. With the composure of every object in existence- they are made up of smaller particles called atoms- I believe that, perhaps, the biggest things in life are made up from the smallest. Meaning that as in the future, a world leader being assasinated or something as such, what realy makes up the event is the weapon used, The quality of the bullet, Even down to the maker of the bullet used.
Simply stated in other words: The smallest things are, indeed, the most importent.

Hello. Im guessing you are a young adult. I to had much anxiety when transitioning into complete independantcy.
The best advice I can give you is to realize EVERYONE you see around you is a person just like you. What I mean is, the men and women you see that have accomplished much in their lives are people just like yourself.
Your acheivment potential is unlimited and you can truly accomplish anything anyone else has ever accomplished with perserverence and a vision.
Dont be discouraged due to your feelings of insecurity. These feelings are also normal and will deminish once you gain more confidence in yourself as a indivdual.
In time you will realize you are a part of society like everyone else and with the new found confidence you will no longer feel uneasy.
This is what happened to me after graduating college and moving out on my own and starting a career.
ITS NORMAL! TRY TO ENJOY THE NEW EXCITMENT OF THE WHOLE PROCESS! YOU WILL ONLY EXPERIENCE THIS ONCE IN YOUR LIFETIME!
Remember, what you do matters but making mistakes is a part of growing as a person. Like a plant that is kept in the closet, if you “hide” you will never grow so get out there and live! Its what life is all about.
