I’m beginning to wonder if I should even announce these anymore, but there has been another redesign. Again, nothing earth shattering, just a change. There are still a few things missing and I’m sure there are a couple problems, but I’m happy with the overall look. Most sites I’ve seen tend to shy away from using real black because it can be a bit overpowering, but I think it looks interesting, at least on my laptop.
I’ve also included my flickr at the bottom because I just recently fell in love with it again.
Also, the latest PageRank update has been kind to a number of my sites, propelling this site and Textplates from zero to six (with a few internal pages at seven). Neither site receives any significant amount of search engine traffic, but the ranking seems to indicate the importance of the page and it is nice to see that my hard work has been recognized (by a machine).

Hm, I like it. The categories on top are nice, I might have to steal that one day ;-)
The black rollovers don’t really work for me, though.
The site has lightened up a bit, and thats good. Well done!

Arjan: Thanks for the nice words, feel free to borrow any elements you like.

I figured it might be something with my moniter. I’ll have to take a look at it when I go to work.

This layout seems more appropriate for the site. Reminds me alot of ionfish, which is a very good thing.
Keep up the good work Thame…

Matt: Thanks. I’ll take a look at it on some other platforms and monitors tomorrow at work, but I like the effect too.
Benedict: I got a little worried when I saw your name in the “Recent Comments” because you’re always there to point out just how bad my “designs” really are, but this comment didn’t turn out too bad :D
Andrew: My site reminds you of ionfish? You’re kidding :D

I actually like the starkness. I’d played with the same notion when I was doing my third redesign on my six month old site.
I must admit I succumbed to some pastels, but have avoided the all too common ‘web2.0’ foible of rounded corners. Just a few too many out there for me.

Thanks James.
I was just playing around and am still not sure myself whether or not I like it.

This is a very nice redesign. I find myself doing them a lot (never put into practice though). This is just personal progression, eventually it will lead you to enlightenment… Or a really stellar design. Either or.
